From Prayer to Praise: How Music Transformed Our Catholic Animations
When we first set out to create animated Catholic stories for children, we began simply, with the Hail Mary. The goal was clear: make the beauty of this prayer accessible and understandable to young hearts and minds through animation.
The animation was a success!
It was loved by kids, parents, educators, catechists, and even awarded at an International Hollywood Film Festival.
But something felt incomplete.
After we produced our Hail Mary animation, we realized something more was needed—something that would not only engage children but help deepen the prayer in their hearts.
Looking back to films of the Disney Renaissance, movies that I loved, and are generally well-loved around the world, they all had something in common.
They were all musicals, and had songs that so many kids, including me, loved to sing along with!
So we turned to music.
Why Music Matters in Catholic Animation
What began as a small addition quickly became a defining part of our mission. Music brought our new animations to life. Adding rhythm and melody added to the reverence and meaning of the prayers.
Now, every animation we produce includes original, faith-filled music. From joyful praise to quiet reflection, the music helps children and adults enter into the mysteries of our faith more deeply.
Our Newest Release: Saint Joseph Sings the Magnificat
Our latest animation takes this musical journey to a whole new level.
In Saint Joseph: Songs of the Saints, we feature an original Broadway-style song where Saint Joseph sings the Magnificat, Mary’s song of praise from the Gospel of Luke. This creative choice allows viewers to experience Mary’s psalm through Joseph’s silent strength in a whole new way.
If you missed our previous blog post about how this particular song came to life, be sure to check it out. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the vision, composing, and spiritual reflection that went into crafting this powerful moment.
The Power of Music to Evangelize
In a world filled with noise, we believe beauty still cuts through. And music, especially music grounded in Catholic truth, has a unique power to captivate, catechize, and convert.
We’re grateful to have started with a simple prayer. And we’re even more grateful for where the Holy Spirit has led us since.
In Christ,
Trevor
